For a mixed shrub border

I'm looking for a summer- or fall-blooming groundcover to underplant a mixed border of viburnum, daphne and taxus. Full sun, my base soil is sandy loam, pH about 7.5 with about 20% compost added to the top 6 inches. Typical Midwest summers, so I'm looking for something that doesn't have to stay constantly moist.

I'm thinking of:

ceratostigma plumbaginoides

campanula portenschlagiana

chamaemelum nobile

geraneum sanguineum

Any comments or other suggestions?

I don't think either the campanula or the geranium do dry very well. Or maybe it's just down here, where they are usually part sun plants.

I planted some of the plumbago last year (also part sun to shade down here), and it's not very thick. It's sending up new leaves pretty far from the original plant.
