Dymondia Silver Carpet

I think it will thrive as a lawn-substitute/ground-cover on sandy soil here in Wilmington NC, but I can't find an online supplier.

Can somebody help? Thanks in advance.

I am in Wilmington also and am interested in whether you found a supplier for dymondia?

RE: Dymondia Silver Carpet

There might be a local supplier but I found it easier to order online, someplace in CA. I planted 6 Dymondias but had to dig them up later because they were dying. Dymondia Margaretae is supposed to be one of the hardiest plants anywhere, go figure. I have them in a pot now with lots of water, where they love it and growing like crazy.

Dymondia needs very good drainage, and I thought sand was a very good medium, and it probably is, perhaps too much drainage. They were very dry in the ground while everything else around them was thriving. But I really didn't water them much. I'm a novice gardener (with very little talent) so I'm trying to figure this out. If anybody knows, please send me a message. I love my Dymondias, note the huge roots for such a tiny plant (bottom right).
