| Hi all,
Just wondering...I have an area of my yard that is almost pure sand. What is the least I can do to the sand to get Snow In Summer growing there? I want to amend as little as possible, because I am really focusing on other areas. Alternatively, is there a ground cover that does well in almost pure sand? I know it's a crazy question, but maybe I'll get lucky.... |

| My mother lives on Long Island in New York and her yard is parctically 75% sand. Everything grows beautifully in her yard, but I think that's because she has an underground automatic sprinkler system that keeps everything well watered. I have Snow in Summer growing in a bed that's filled with mostly rocks and dust with a few bags of topsoil mixed in (but that was over 10 years ago). I have to water the area pretty regularly. Try mixing in whatever organic matter you have with the sand and trying a few plants. My experience is not so much the soil composition, but water. |
