| Could anyone ID these GC's? Neither have a scent, and I don't know about any type of flowers, as we just moved in here in November.

the bottom one looks like an aguja. the top one is a sedum if it's a succulent- if not, it looks for all the world like crab grass, which means it could be a creeping pink if it makes flowers...if not, it's one of the few things I'll admit to as being a weed!

Hard to tell from the picture, but does the top one have flat, iris like leaves? It looks a bit like Iris crestada, which is a low, groundcover iris. If it blooms this month with blue iris, that will confirm it. The next one looks like a Veronica, then again it could be Ajuga which is just coming out. Mine looks similar

The top one looks like a Dianthus- pink- to me. Are they blooming yet? Probably not, since you're 2 zones colder than me. Are you still there?

I was going to guess Dianthus for the top one. Glad to see someone else thinks the same. Quite a find, if it is. Colors can be anywhere from deep wine, through red, pink, white and some are picotee or mixed. For the second,I am going to guess, after having tried to grow only one, a plant called Cistis or Cistus. If that is what it is, it is also a splendid plant to have and a testament to the previous owner. The common name is rockrose. Let them bloom before treating them like crabgrass. And let us know your final decision as to what they are. |

Well, Here I am, and the top one, is now standing straight up, unlinke in the photo (after a rain), but no blooms yet - I will keep an eye on it. I love whatever the bottom one is, no blooms, but os lush and green ;) I'll post more pictures tomorrow.

The top one now has little dark purple buds on it and is standing straight up. THe bottom one has little yellow flowers on it. Would you like pictures?

Bottom one looks kind of like portulaca to me. If the leaves are fleshy. Top one, not a clue. Holly

We always like pictures. Top is definietely a dianthus in my opinion. Would love to see the flowers on the second one.

Hi ya'll....I agree on the top one, based upon your description. I initially thought the bottom one would be ajuga - would love to see pics with blooms. Most ajuga I know of have purple blooms...but then again, i am NOT an expert!

Well the one is absolutely a dianthus. Any chance of a close up of the flowers of the second one? It is very pretty, but I can't tell what it is.

Could the bottom plant be Thyme? If you break off a stem, crush the leaves it should smell herbally good.

I believe the bottom one is Rock Soapwort,Saponaria. It is a terrific plant, very low mintenance. I have had some for 5 years and just love it.
