 o
Groundcover for my situation..,

Okay here's the situation in our front lawn. We have a young tree (Catalpa) that we circled with black edging last year to protect it from the lawn mower and the person driving the lawn mower. I've had a couple of mishaps in the past and want this tree not to fall prey to my sometimes erratic manuevering of the mower. Anyway the tree is in the middle of the front yard. Northern exposure with a bit of sun in the morning and late afternoon. Good soil, moist conditions. My question is what groundcover might do well in the tree ring. It will be watered overhead several times a week when I water the lawn and like I said receive partial sun. Invasive is actually okay as I should be able to keep an eye on it due its location. I considered Vinca Minor but read that it does not care for overhead watering due to a potential rot issue.

Hoping someone might have some thoughts for what could work in this spot. Thank you.

Kathryn

How about creeping Jenny? I love the foliage color, it spreads well but not to the point you want to scream : ) it likes moist soil and grows fast. Can be grown in sun or shade. Good luck,

Jen

Hey Jen:

Thank you for your good thoughts. I went to Lowe's today and actually picked up a couple of Creeping Jenny's. I ended up putting them back because I thought instead of buying individual plants I would hold out for a flat. But it helps to know what I'm looking for now. Thanks again.

Kathryn
