What kind of groundcover will survive under an old pine tree? When pick up all dry needles from this pine, ground under is just bare. Grass doesn't grow under that tree, the area is pretty much shaded. Any advice is appreciated.

If you plant it, it will need water. Why not leave the pine needles down? We use them as mulch all the time down here in the South.

I have lots of native plants growing under my pine tree. How high up is the tree limbed? The higher the better.

I have a 30 ft. Norway Spruce tree on the nne exposed corner of my front yard, with multitudes of weeds etc. growing under it. I want to clear it out and plant sturdy evergreen ground cover that will inhibit grapevines, weed trees, poison ivy, etc. I'm considering sweet woodruff, vinca and lily of the valley. Comments?
