Will Creeping Thyme Grow Back?

I have never grown creeping thyme before and purchased six Highland Creme and six Annie Hall in mid June. They went thru some wet weather while they were still in pots, and all the top growth died off. I've tried to keep them drier since. Do you think they will ever resprout or are they goners? Can I tell by the roots if they might be still alive? I'm a pretty experienced gardener, but these little guys have me stumped. TIA

Look at the roots and you'll be able to tell if they are viable. Plant them and see what happens unless they sat in water for an extended amount of time they should be fine.
