gro-low sumac as ground cover?

| I am having a landscaper design a bed that will have a Japenese lilac a fir and/or upright junipers, a few little princess spirea. Does any see a problem with the gro-low sumac? |

| I am in se NC. Sumac is a bother here, so I would not suggest it. |

| I can tell you I have seen it spread out nearly 8'. Also have seen it grow over 3' high. It is extraordinarily drought tolerant. It has excellent fall color. Cleaning leaves out of it is a real pain in the a**. IMO the early yellow flowers are nothing special. It could easily grow thru your spirea if planted to close. This sumac is not a pest in ohio. Could be wrong, but I think the problem sumac down south is not the same as gro-low. In short, it could be a problem or a solution depending on your specific situation. Surviving severe drought may be it's best use. |
