Can I Plant Creeping Mazus Now?

Steph.in.New.York

By "now" I mean in the summer time, like this month (July) or during August. We moved into a new house with a lot of garden space, much of it bare, and I'm anxious to get some ground covers going. This being the northeast I also have rocks galore and want to make lots of rock gardens.

We are currently having a heat wave -- high 90s, but I am assuming it won't last forever and the temps will be back down to the 80s. So, assuming I am able to find some purple mazus plants (which is in itself harder than I expected), could I pop them in the ground without waiting for fall?

Thank you!,
Stephanie in Northern Rockland County, New York (zone 6B)
