After reading through most of the posts in this forum, I see that ice plant is probably a good candidate for groundcover on my sloping, clay "soil" section of yard that I qualify as full sun. Problem is I have zoysia, which is a great grass but almost impenetrable now that its fully established. I can't get sod busting equipment to this section of yard because of septic lines. I've considered sheet mulching, but I'm concerned that the whole mulch bed will just slide downhill during a heavy rain.
I'd like to replace the zoysia with a good groundcover. Do you think it's possible that ice plant, once established, can eventually "push out" the zoysia?
BTW, my zone is listed as 8 for my zip code, but the area I'm in within that zip code is closer to 9. Additionally, being in eastern central SC, high humidity is a factor to consider with plantings.
