Blue star creeper eating my lawn

We have an area of grass bordered by a path of flagstones. We put blue star creeper around the stones, and bender board to separate it (hah!) from the lawn. It's now happily invading the lawn, and I don't think there's a way to get it out. How would the blue star creeper be as a "lawn", assuming that it'll eventually take over completely? I do like the color contrast between the darker tall fescue and the brighter creeper, but life is short...
