groundcover for sunny steep slope

I'm trying to figure out what to plant on a slope along our driveway that faces east but gets alot of midday sun. It is pretty steep and sandy and is roughly 300 x 40 feet in size. It tends to get somewhat damp in areas from runoff from the hill above but can be dry in other areas. I am looking for a groundcover that will fill in quickly and hold the sand as we are having a fair amount of erosion withthese summer storms. We are zone 5 (northern CT) and can have some pretty cold winters.
I tried wintercreeper on time, and it all died. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

| Please take a look at crown vetch. You're trying to cover a quarter acre, and this may be the kind of thing for you. It is used extensively along the roads here in the midwest. As long as you get sun most of the day, you're ok. It does not like shade at all which is why it does so well along roadways. http://www.invasive.org/eastern/eppc/COVA.html

| That seems like it would work. From what I raed, it requires alkaline soil? Where can I get good seeds at a reasonable price? Do they need to be innoculated in order to adapt better? My site is very sandy, poor soil. |
