Ivy type plant with a Japanese name?

Hi, a couple of yrs. ago a friend gave me some ivy type groundcover that has red along with the dark green on the leaves. I planted it on a tough slope leading down to our lakeside but only a few survived, the ones closest to the water, it obviously likes to be wet. Right now the couple of plants i have left have a tiny white flower on them. Can anyone tell me the name and a source where I could get more?
thanks!
