Full sun, wind resistant ground cover

| Hi,
I'm looking for a ground cover that will do well in full sun with no wind protection. I would also like something that is somewhat deer resistant. I would prefer an evergreen, but am flexible if nothing evergreen fits the bill.
The area I'm trying to cover is a berm in the middle of the yard well away from the house with no protection from wind.
Most of my searches are turning up periwinkle, vinca minor, but I'm concerned about dessication in the winter.
Any suggestions?
Thanks much. |

| Cotoneaster dammeri, aka bearberry. Vinca is not appropriate for an exposed, full sun location - it would prefer at least part shade. |

| Planting recommendations may say otherwise, but I've had great success with pachysandra (japanese spurge) in both full sun (south facing wall) and full shade. Very hardy and excellent groundcover, attractive, and evergreen for me. Read my response to "ideas for shade groundcover as lawn replacement" - a thread posted just after your own on this forum. I don't have deer but I believe they are deer resistant. |

| Thanks for the replies all. I'll take a look at them both. Much appreciated. |
