Will mowing thyme flowers cause MORE flowers?

| My wooly thyme, which I love, has put out quite a few bee-attracting flowers. While the flowers are lovely, and I generally like my bee "visitors," this thyme is planted between pavers where my four kids often run barefoot. Soooo, I'd like to not encourage the bees. If I mow off the flowers, will I just stimulate more flowers?
Thanks for your help!

| eventually- but it takes two months or so for them to rebloom- and in that time, they're usually tall enough to be mowed again. I had the same problem with the thyme planted in my garden bench- I love my bees, but several friends are fairly reactive, and one's downright phobic, so I tend to trim them before a party, and put the flowering tips in a little bowl to enjoy :) |

| My experience with woolly thyme is -- don't even let it flower, shear it in the bud stage. Yes, the flowers are really pretty but the plant dies back after flowering and leaves a big brown patch that takes the rest of the season to fill back in. Does yours stay green after flowering? |

Thanks! I'll just mow away. Cicada, I haven't noticed any browning after flowering--mine has stayed green all year, but I am in S. California, and it's only been growing about 18 months. |
