Juniper Blu Rug

These junipers are about ten years old, and they look wonderful, -- but underneath all the new limbs is a network of very brown limbs (you cannot see them at all without lifting the top layers.) --- My question is should I prune away the lower layers? or just leave well enough alone?

Blue Rug and Bar Harbor are wonderful weed smothering gc's in my sunny sandy soil yard.

thisbetty,
leave them alone.
Don't cut anything if you can't see it.
