ajuga over Daffodil bulbs?

I am getting conflicting information about whether daffodil bulbs will be able to come up through ajuga. I have a very dark colored variety of ajuga, and my daffodils are not miniatures. Some gardeners are saying this will work, but another one said that by the second year the ajuga will be so thick that the bulbs will not be able to get through! I would really appreciate advice about this!!

I have never yet seen a planing of ajuga dense enough to deter emerging daffodil foliage. They can even penetrate thick layers of English ivy and vinca. I say go for it!
