Need a low maintainance groundcover for on a sloped bank.

I have a small embankment in front of my house along the road and extending the length of my property. The bank is about four feet wide and my property has about 400 feet of road frontage. I need a groundcover that will be low maintainance, look good in the winter and cover the bank so that I don't have to mow it anymore! I currently have clumps of Daylilies on the steepest part of the embankment and don't know if I should just plant more, or try something different?

If you look at my post above, you will see I am looking for a way to contain ajuga. It's great for an area like an embankment. It gets very thick and is totally maintenance free. It stays neat, where daylilies are messy after they bloom. We're in the Boston area and it does very well. But it is invasive, so consider that.

Is there grass currently growing in this spot? I'm assuming there is grass there now since you mow it, which would probably mean it is sunny? More than 6 hours of sun a day? Or is it shady and the grass isn't growing well?

Also, are you looking to cover the entire 400 feet, or a smaller area of the slope?
