Walk upon ground covers

I am new to ground covers, is there such a thing as a ground cover that can be walked on? I have an area that gets sun and partial shade and does have traffic. Any suggestions? The area is mostly clay and is in hot and humid Houston.

Yes there are a number of very hardy plants that may suit the job...
Creeping myrtle (Vinca) will quickly fill in open spaces with short trailing vines and adorable purple flowers.

Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum) may be another choice.

I have noticed there is a section in Home Depot or one of those stores that have a greenhouse attached where they have something they market as "steppables" or something like that. Everything in that section can be a possibility.
Good luck and happy gardening

You might want to look at the Stepables website and see if you see any plants that you notice doing well in your area there.
