Fast growing shade GC for hillside needed

I've seen a few posts here about groundcovers for hillsides, but what I need is something fast growing to fill in quickly to prevent erosion on the hill when I kill off all the weeds. It is a very shady area, and the boss doesn't like pachysandra, so that's out. A low GC would be better than a taller one so it doesn't catch so many leaves in this wooded area, but the most important thing is that it is shade tollerant and fills in quickly.

Hi,

If the area is moist, I would go with either Sweet woodruff (very pretty) or Lamium, dead nettle. They both spread fairly quickly and look great all season. If it's drier you could try Vinca.

Thanks for the info TJ. I like the look of both of those, but I haven't found a place that carries either one yet.

Usually you can find one or both at your local greenhouse/nurseries, or Lowes, places like that. It's kinda late in the season now to find much. Good luck!
