Groundcover suggestion for hot and dry Arizona

I need some suggestions for groundcovers that with grow in hot and dry Arizona. It will be underneath a tree but will still get a lot of sun during the day. Flowering groundcover would be nice but I mainly want something that will be mostly evergreen, grow fast, and be able to tolerate the hot sun? Is there such a plant?

Sedums are a wonderful succulent that have many different varieties and wonderful tiny flowers. Not sure about how fast they grow.

Also sempervivums might do well.

Another free flowering plant that LOVES California is Ice Plant (delosperma). But it can be invasive and sometimes unwanted.
