Advice needed on propagating Black mondo grass

I live in Zone 8 and have several small ornamental clumps of mondo grass in my yard. I'd like to grow some more from seed in my greenhouse. I see some pea-sized "berries" on my mondo grass, which I presume contain seeds. When is the best time to harvest these? Do I need to wait for the berries to shrivel and dry, or what?

Right about now is a good time to harvest. The berries should be plump and firm. Plant the seeds (the entire little "berry") immediately. You can do so just by poking the berries into the soil adjacent to the original clump to increase its size or in a greenhouse setting. This is not a fast plant to produce, hence its expensive nature - you'll need patience. Commercial propagation is typically by division of the spreading rhizomes
