moving pachysandra

I have an area of my garden where I am about to add topsoil and then plant pachysandra. I have another area where I would like to move my pachsandra from. Since the existing pachysandra is in a wooded area, barely seen or used, does anyone know if I could just skip adding the topsoil to the new area, and dig up the existing pachysandra, say 4 or so inches down, keeping the plants in tact and in it's soil and just move it into place, soil and all. In other words, similar to laying down sod?

That should work. Just make sure that the roots are completely covered and then really muddy the soil around the plantings to remove air pockets. Maureen
