 o
epimedium - how fast does it spread?

I split up a big epimedium sulfurum - the common yellow one and planted it around under 2 river birches in raised berms. It will remain fairly dry on the surface of the soil I think. How fast will that epimedium spread? I need it for erosion control.

Here they seem to spread 3 to 6 inches per year, but I do nothing for them and the soil is sandy and acid. They keep most weeds out but must be string trimmed to the ground each February as they look very bad by then and I do not want the flowers obscured. But you said you have had the plant, so I am sure you know this.
