Groundcover planning for spring

I'm considering planting some groundcover in a bed that currently has a few new shrubs. I want to move these elsewhere as they're making my front yard look a little too busy. I was thinking about replacing them with a simple groundcover (I guess I could go back to grass but I'd like to use the area for bulbs as well).

The area gets morning sun, dappled shade (from my neighbor's large cherry tree), and is a strip between townhouses. My neighbor has a "divider" of brick edging on one side, and the other side is sidewalk. I'd say it's about 2-3 ft wide. I like the look of pachysandra and vinca minor, but I'm slightly worried about invasion into my neighbor's lawn. I'm pretty fastidious when it comes to gardening though.

Thoughts of advice? I love periwinkle but I think I might be able to control the pachy a bit more.
