Hi

I'm new to gardenweb and new to gardening.

I have a square lawn in the front yard. I am planning in the spring to dig up the stretch of grass alongside the sidewalk to the street and put in a plant bed. Along the sidewalk, I would like to avoid mulch as the yard is slightly sloped and all the mulch would wash into the street. What full sun groundcovers are durable,(we get foot traffic and dog traffic and I have little kids) will look good most of the year round (it is my front yard and can't be hidden from view like some of my mistakes in the back yard), and tolerates full sun. Ideas and pictures please!
