Soil test in the GTA?

Posted by canuckistani 5a (My Page) on

Any suggestions on how to go about a cheap or free soil test in the toronto area (Brampton specifically). Are there free soil tests out there?

Thanks!

Guelph University does that for the public however I think they do charge a small fee for it.

AG Test in Guelph is my lab of choice. Great service and competitive rates.

Free soil testing? Maybe if you are a member of the OFA you can get a discount, but nothing is free anymore.

Here is a link that might be useful: AG Test

Call up Humber Nurseries---(the biggest full service nursery in Canada)...they're in your neck of the woods.
If they don't, they can put you in touch with who does.
Or, call up Mason Hogue Nursery in Uxbridge--a bit east of you but good advice about soil testing.

Like Acton, its worth the drive to Guelph.

Do call first---they can give proper advice about how to go about bringing the required number of soil testing samples to the laboratory.
Soil tests are not reliable unless taken from many far-apart places. Getting a test done for one particular area is useless.
