Expanding my Garden For Spring

| Hi, this is my first post and I want to say hi to everyone!
Last year we moved into our house, I made a garden in the middle of the yard (by tilling up the grass). Because the soil was wet it was late into the growing season before I could plant. The grass essentially kept it wet and I wasn't able to till it properly. This year I want to expand the garden out more but I don't want to miss the early part of the growing season. Does anyone have any ideas on how to expand it without waiting for the soil to dry? It's dense old crabgrass type lawn.
Thanks,
Matt |

Hi Matt, welcome aboard. You haven't given too much info, but I think that if you "GOOGLE" Lasagna Gardening, you will probably get the advice you need. Rai |

I don't really understand what you mean by wet soil. Don't you want your soil to be moist? Dry soil seems like a bad thing to me. But if you want to kill off the grass and get ready for spring planting just cover the areas you want to become garden with a few layers of newspaper and compost. It will kill the grass and be ready to plant in spring. |
