I bought a big black covered compost bin this month. Silly me to think it would come with instructions beyond assembly!
How do you start a compost bin in the winter? I can gather brown leaves and use fruit/vegetable scraps, but nothing green (like grass clippings). Somewhere I read you put in topsoil at the beginning?
All help appreciated. I was surprised not to find a composting forum on GW.
