 o
earliest date for planting lupines in Traverse City?

I've been wanting to try lupines for a few years now.

Noticed that some of the stores like Meijers are starting to carry their boxed plants [lupines box of 3 for $4.99]. That didn't seem like an exorbitant amount to pay for some "experimental" plants. However, I'd hate to pick a box up and hve the roots/plants all croak by planting time. If I did pick a box up, how should/could I store the plants until able to plant?

Btw, TC is zone 5

Must resist the urge, must resist....I've tried some of those box plants (but from Home Depot, not Meijer) and had dismal results. Better to wait till May and get a potted plant from a reputable nursery for about the same price.
On the other hand, you could always pot them up now and keep them inside for planting out in the spring. Gardeners are a thrill-seeking lot.
