is it time to start a lawn from seed?

last year, my hardscaping was completed and i was left with subsoil. On top of that, i spead topsoil.

I want to start a lawn from seed (south sunny location). Is it too early to spread grass seed?

Also, how much top soil should i have for a lawn?

This should be a great time to spread lawn seed. Be sure to use a cool-season mixture with some perennial rye in it ... this will give you the quickest greenup.

From my reading, it looks like you should have between 4-6" of topsoil to get a well-established lawn.
