Anyone growing Cryptomeria?

I have read varying reports of their cold hardiness. Many reports of them not being as hardy as stated. I have seen "Radicans" variety in the Wayside Nursery catalog stating hardiness to z5b. Any one familiar with that variety?

Also, are Cryptomerias deer resistant?

Thanks.

I haven't seen deer eat cryptomeria on Vancouver Island. I notice the trees in zone 8 areas. They seem to hate summer drought. They are shipped from California to BC. Monrovia may have them. If you visit Vancouver, BC or Seattle, WA you may be able to find different types at local nurseries.

I notice these trees where monkey puzzle trees, eucalyptus, windmill palms and arbutus are grown.

    cheers
