 o
the assesment

Between personal observation and hearing stuff on local radio:

In Northern Ohio, there will be no blooms/fruits this year from:

Flowering Pear ("Bradford" or "Callery" pear as some call them)
Flowering Crabapple
Flowering Cherry
Redbud
Forsythia (they were already blooming, now limp)
Lilacs
Hydrangea
Apricots

In most (95%) cases the plants will survive, but only get new leaves and not flowers.

Marginal (some may bloom/fruit, some not):

Fruiting Peaches
Fruiting Cherries
Dogwood

Probably OK:

Tulips
Late-blooming Daffodils
Most late bulb flowers
Anything that blooms after June 1 (roses, Butterfly Bush, etc)
Apples
Pears (fruiting pears)
Plums
Strawberries
Raspberries
Blackberries

This is a little late for April Fools. LOL

Seriously though, I have been thinking that a lot of the budding will be adversely affected by this ridiculous late cold spell. :( I hadn't thought so much though.

RE: the assesment

My lilacs look fine, some of the leaf buds got burned, but the flowering buds had not yet pushed forth enough to be hurt. My Nanking Cherries had their blooms burned right off, and my kiwi looks a little ragged (but there were no buds before, nor yet so I don't know if it will bloom or not). My pawpaw buds were swelling before the snap and the buds appear unharmed.
