So anyone growing Virginia Bluebells?

Or more properly known as Mertensia virginica? If so, what's your low down on it? (Thinking of trying it if I can find seeds cheap.)

I do and love it. It is so very beautiful when in bloom next to Cow's Lip, soft yellow Primrose and Pink or White Bleeding Heart.

Metensia verginica is very easy to grow and self seeds rather easily. I have been trying to spread it throughout my garden.

It is a spring ephemeral. It disappears in summer, much sooner than Bleeding Heart. So you need to plant something else around the spot to fill the void for the rest of the growing season.

    Good luck with the Bluebells.

I started it this year, too. I transplanted it- blooming- from a wooded creekside area to my own wooded creekside area. They didn't last long out of the ground, but perked up once replanted and continued to bloom happily for me.

It's a common wildflower here and the property I transplanted from is literally acres of wild sown bluebell carpet. I'm hoping that will happen in a few years for my space, too.
