Flowers for gravesite

In June I'm planting flowers on a gravesite in Michigan. I'd like to plant a lot of daylilies, but would love your suggestions for complementary plants. Thanks!

First of all, I'd check with the planting rules of the cemetery in which you wish to plant your daylillies. Here in Manistee, one of the several cemeteries in town only allows a space of 14 inches around the gravesite. One could of course stretch those 14 inches if there were several consecutive gravesites in an area.

If your gravesite spacing conditions are similar, you won't have much room for a grouping of complementary plants if you plant a lot of daylilies, since they will take up a great deal of space and leave little room.

Hope this is somewhat useful.

Thanks for the heads up, Bill! The cemetery doesn't restrict the size of the planting area but forbids the use of "promiscuous" plants. I am not making this up. I guess I'll try to stay away from wayward perennials. :)
