This willow got uprooted from a strong straightline wind we has a year or two back. Despite everything, it is still alive and growing. Amazes me how tenacious life can be.

These Eastern redbud flowers remind me in shape of some little yellow flowers I commonly find growing along the roadside in summer. Cute little things.

I just thought the pattern on these shelf fungi was rather nifty.

gardenmaker, these pics were taken along a river in the Marshall/Battle Creek area.

Sheryl, thanks for IDing the trefoil [Lotus corniculatus] for me! I've been wondering what it was. : )

I wish I could see the pics! I think I had some shelf fungi on my box elder last year. I know it's a weedy tree, but it was here when we moved in and we like the shade.

That's weird! I can see the pics now! Go figure!
    Beautiful pics!
Now I'm sorry I never got up on the ladder and checked out the top of that fungi! I'll have to check it out now. It's still there! Doubt it's alive anymore, but it is still there.

    Awesome pics!

My Grandmother was born in Marshall almost 100 years ago!
All my family is from Battle Creek.
My Dad moved out west while in HS, he took us back there a few times to visit his cousins and their kids, it was alot of fun!

Great Aunt and Uncle had a place out on 3 1/2 mile rd.
They used to have a berry patch with the most delicious berries on it.
I wish I knew what kind of berries they were.
I would love to try to grow some here.

Better yet, would love to contact the current owners and see if the berry patch is still there and if they would be willing to send me some cuttings!
    What nostalgia that would be!
Eating berries from the same berry plant I ate from as a kid!

Beautiful photos, Paul. At first I thought that fungus was a snake curled up.
