visited my folks in Traverse City last week and went 'camera happy'. Trilliums are among my favorite flowers. Wish they stuck around longer. Here are a few of the pics:

Okay so this one isn't a trillium...

I need some of those for a difficult place in the yard. Shade, tree roots, etc.
    Thanks for the idea!

I love trilliums! I just went for a run through the woods this morning and enjoyed all the trilliums in bloom. I thought they were protected (according to my dear Grandmother). Can you purchase them for your yard?

Yes, you can. But make sure it's from a reputable source. They take a long time to bloom from seed, explaining their high cost. They are native to the woods, and are glorious to see a blanket of them on the forest floor. I have the red ones with the mottled leaves growing all over my lot. I think they're the erectums. But I would love to get the white grandiflorums too.
