How and when do you pull out (dig up) garlic bulbs?

RE: Garlic

You dig them carefully with a pitchfork when the tops start to die off. Thats usually the end of July ish in metro Milwaukee. Once dug, let them dry for a week or so ( do not wash). Depending on variety, they'll keep for several months to a year in a cool room or in the fridge. You can use the largest cloves to replant the bed this fall.

Hey there, Bob's got it right. Here's something you might want to try. When the seed heads start to form, curl around, but haven't opened cut them off about one inch below the head. Their great stir fried or ligthly fried on their own.Very mild flavour.
