what could it be

5 feet tall now, no flower just a seed head I'm afraid, in full shade! I don't remember planting anything but that doesn't mean anything :) The stalk is as big as my arm!

It looks familiar. Look up angelica gigas, that's what is coming to mind.

It looks like hogweed to me. It is on the noxious weed list here. One popped up in my garden as well. I removed it.

noxious weed or not it has pretty leaves.

I searched angelica and hog weed. I can see some resemblance to the hog weed but the seed pod or "flower is round and not flat across the tops. Anitamo, I'm sure you are right about the angelica but since the seed pod is green and not purple I think its angelica archangel. Thank you for your response. Now I just have to decide what I want to do with it, it's completely covering 2 large hostas and a bleeding heart. Maybe I'll just trim it up....my search said biannual and reseeds politely....hmm we'll see.
