i was just given 2 blueberry bushes. they are about 2 feet tall and have dozens of blueberries on them. they are from a nursery, not wild or dug up. i keep hearing that they will not produce fruit for 2-3 years. since these already have berries on them, will they produce next year?
they are north country and polaris.
i am in central wisconsin.
i know about the soil conditions.
thank you |

| Once the plants are physiologically mature enough to begin to bear fruit, they will continue to do so, so yes, you will get fruit next year and in the succeeding years. Bear in mind, however, that blueberries have a tendency to be somewhat alternate bearing -- large crop one year, smaller crop the next. This is moderated or exacerbated by climate and growing conditions -- lots of rain in the summer, for example, means a better crop next year, severe summer drought means a poor crop next year. Since your bushes are young and small, you may not get tremendous quantities, but the crop will get bigger each year as the bushes grow. |
