It's really bugging me...

...that I don't know the identity of this bug -Do any of you? He's shown here on a clethera blossom and I've found him on one of my daisies as well -quite a handsome fellow with his striking colors. I posted this on the 'pests and diseases' forum too, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt (until I hear otherwise) that he's not a pest, but rather after the nectar. He has wings.

A positive ID was offered on the 'pests and diseases' forum. It turns out that it's a webworm moth (aka ermine moth). One site mentions that "it can be a minor pest in nurseries, although it rarely does serious damage" -It's only a pollinator in my yard so far.

He's beautiful. But how do you know he's a fellow? Just how close are you getting to your bugs, anyway?

LOL! -Well, not close enough to know for sure, for sure...but I have to say that I've never seen a ladybug lookin' like that! : )
