root maggot control

Anyone have an effective method of controlling root maggots? I would like to have some idea how to keep them from destroying my cabbage and turnips next year. We have worked up a new garden spot this year, so they were not in the soil from previous plantings. I can not find any product on the market to get rid of them, but there must be some way to keep them from devouring our root crops. WE NEED HELP!!!
