Hi, First time posting this forum.

Can someone ID these plants for me?

I was given these by a nieghboor of my parents a bit more than a year ago, They didn't know what they were. Early in the spring they grew long amerillis type leaves which died off after a few weeks. about 10 ten days ago a spike started to push up and now this is the flower(s).

If the pictures don't work try this link;

Thanks a lot

Danny

    I'm no bulb expert, but here's my guess(es): it looks like Amaryllis belladonna, maybe Nerine or possibly Crinum.

    Thank you for you reply.
    I did a google search and they do look like Amaryllis belladonna. On several sites it shows them as hardy to zone 7, These have survived many zone 5 (Chicago) winters. I guess I got lucky.

    Thanks again

    Well, if that's the case, I'm going to try it myself -- they are beautiful!

    My guess is Lycoris squamigera. Hardy zone 5-10.

    OK, Now I'm not sure what to think, They both look the same to me. I guess Lycoris would make more sence due to the hardiness zone but I really don't see much difference.

    Thanks again

    The Amaryllis will flower first, then get foliage, the Lycoris will get the foliage in spring and flower after the foliage is gone.
