Good afternoon all!

I am posting today to ask for a bit of help with the "curb appeal" of my newly purchased house. The front of the house faces south and it has been neglected for years. As you can see from the picture there are some green shrubs and plants there currently and I am not opposed to getting rid of them (recycling of course), but I would like to add that appeal, and welcoming factor to my home with colour and texture. I consider myself more of a "modern, clean lines type of girl" and would appreciate any suggestions on plants, ground cover etc that are not a lot of maintance.

Any help you could provide along with your expertise would be greatly appreciated.
