have a hummer question???????

We live in SE Michigan, the hummers have visited us consistently this summer. They have enjoyed the Bee Balm and Cardinal flower. Next year we would like to plant some type annual in one of our large concrete baskets that is on our deck.

What type of annual would bring in the humers, the reason for the annual a prennial won't work in the basket from year to year, it is only about 18" across the top and about 8" deep so won't support a deep root system.

Up for ideas!!!! Thanks

Lary

Petunias or anything colorful, especially red, that they can stick their noses into. :)

Salvias are popular with them, as are agastache.

I find they like Fuchsias, Calibrachoas, Nasturtiums, and any petunias or salvias that are bright. The plant I find they love is the Cigar Plant. It is so much fun to watch them because of the shape of the small tubular flowers.
