Hollyhock Seeds

I am in the west end of Toronto, Ontario - I've been sent seeds for black hollyhock.

Should I plant them now? Or wait till spring?

Thanks in advance for your advice on this.

I would be tempted to plant 1/3 now, and 1/3 next spring. That way, you'll have some well started next year. You might even get some blooms from them, but I believe they take two years. The other 1/3, I would winter sow. There is a wonderful forum here on the garden web that deals with winter sowing. It is neat, and quite successful, particularly with native plants.

OK - good idea. I'll do that - some now, some in spring.

Wintersowing - it's only yesterday I realized there was such a technique - I'll look for it on this site.
