 o
how much sun is partial sun

One last question....I am forever confused at why the garden centres I use can't tell me exactly what they mean by a plant requiring partial sun or partial shade. Does that mean mostly shade with some filtered sun? Does it mean no sun in the morning but sun in the afternoon. Or, does it mean a plant needs to remain cool. I ask, because I have unfortunately had bad experiences with the 'Partials' whereby I have often planted something in a shady area by morning with full sun in the later hours or visa versa, only to have the plant struggle because this is not it's idea of 'Partial'. Can anyone help me.

Partial sun usually means the plant can't handle the strongest rays in the middle of the day, from about 10 am to about 3 pm.
