fall chores

Well we've had a great thanksgiving weekend. I finally got my yard raked, grass cut, bushes trimmed, etc. all those endof the season chores done!!!. usually it snows and rains so much at this time of the year most things go undone and spring clean-up is a bear.

I have a sack of crocus that i need to plant for forcing and i have to run the gas out of the mower. if i'm smart i'll also get all my little piles of composting leaves into one big pile and covered for the winter. maybe i'll
close my proch in with plastic for the season as well.

so much good weather in the forecast, so few chores left to do.

RE: fall chores

I got a lot more of my leaves shredded the last couple days. The extra time let me get all the beds finished with a good layer of the shredded leaves. Shredded leaves seem to stay in place better than whole leaves.

Weather has been so great! I can take these late season Indian Summer temps! Some of my roses are confused though, putting out some new leaf growth. I have walked around seeing what has budded, lots of buds ready for spring, like the Star Magnolia.

I just put some Stay-bil in the gas tanks of the mower and roto-tiller. Tanks were almost full, too hard to drain. Letting them run would take forever, both are pretty economical on fuel. I did empty out the weed whacker before hanging it for the last time. I put up and moved around, some hooks and brackets for tools. Got the rakes and loppers all hung up. Kind of amazing how MANY tools I have accumulated when you get them all together! I usually have a backup tool for those I like best, like the Ames No-Clog rakes. That way I have mine and my helper DD can have one also or use another style. We each have our own garden shovels and spades, small rakes for the beds, trowels and digging forks. Makes things easier for each of us. But makes for a LARGE collection of tools to store. Hanging has worked quite well, easy to see what you need.

Will keep enjoying weather as long as we have it!!
