Siberian larch

This last week I saw an absolutely beautiful golden evergreen and after some research learned that it was a Siberian larch. I would like to purchase one in the spring and was wondering if anyone grew this in their yard. Does the folliage make much of a mess when it falls each year, not that it matters to me as we are surrounded by several maples so we have lots of leaves to pick up each year. I understand that the siberian larch is good up to Zone 2 so it should do well here. Would like to hear from some others that have grown this successfully. Thanks.

I had a Japanese Larch (I don't know the difference) and it was a lovely little tree (if I had the room, it would be on my "must have list")

NO, the "needles" weren't a mess, they fell and vanished into the soil quickly. They are not hard and waxy like pines, so they must break down quickly. I loved it in the spring as it looked like it was covered with bright green pom-poms.

Oh yeah and it produced cones after a year in the ground (I had two set cbout 12 feet apart (with a bench between)

The "needles" turned bright yellow in the fall. It was a little spindly and sparse for my liking, but my wife loved it.
