i have a lovely gold and green ivy (forgotten name but somehow 'golddart' comes to mind).

at any rate, it has proved hardy when others have failed but i purchased it to climb up the back of my brick house. it keeps growing but it never produces the necessary tendrils to attach itself to the brick. (my color brick is so unattractive that it NEEDS covering).

is this a ground cover only?

does anyone have any information on the climbing abilities of this ivy?

thanks for any information

joan

Could it be "Goldheart" ?

Here is a link that might be useful: Goldheart

RE: ivy

It will not only climb your brick..it will wreck it, eventually. It will damage the mortar with its "holdfasts", which are the things that it sticks to the brick with. Run away, run away from any kind of english ivy. yes, it's very pretty. Yes, it looks cool rambling up brick walls... but....it's not worth the damage it causes structurally and environmentally! Goldheart makes babies that are all green, sometimes..those are called "sports" The sports are regular old english ivy, and very invasive. Give your bricks a white wash, instead! Very Mediterannean and hip these days! april
